   -       short story

Elephant and Friends
One day an elephant wandered into a forest in search of friends. He saw a monkey on a tree. “Will you be my friend?” asked the elephant. Replied the monkey, “You are too big. You can not swing from trees like me.” Next, the elephant met a rabbit. He asked him to be his friends. But the rabbit said, “You are too big to play in my burrow!” Then the elephant met a frog.
“Will you be my friend? He asked.
“How can I?” asked the frog.
“You are too big to leap about like me.”
The elephant was upset. He met a fox next.
“Will you be my friend?” he asked the fox.
The fox said, “Sorry, sir, you are too big.”
The next day, the elephant saw all the animals in the forest running for their lives. The elephant asked them what the matter was. The bear replied, “There is a tiger in the forest. He’s trying to gobble us all up!” The animals all ran away to hide. The elephant wondered what he could do to solve everyone in the forest. Meanwhile, the tiger kept eating up whoever he could find. The elephant walked up to the tiger and said, “Please, Mr. Tiger, do not eat up these poor animals.”
“Mind your own business!” growled the tiger.
The elephant has a no choice but to give the tiger a hefty kick. The frightened tiger ran for his life. The elephant ambled back into the forest to announce the good news to everyone. All the animals thanked the elephant. They said, “You are just the right size to be our friend.”
TRUE FRIENDSHIP
My name is Carla. I am seventeen years old. My hobby is singing and I don’t have any special interest at something. I am not good at singing but I love to do it. I always do it when I am taking a bath. I don’t like studying and reading books. I know that’s important to support my score at school but I have another point of view. For me, studying is not always about reading and doing exercise. Studying is listening to my bestfriend’s story about the subject that she has already read about. She loves reading a lot. She provides me knowledge by listening to her story. She packs the lessons into some interesting stories. I think she has a talent to be a great teacher.
She doesn’t like to be exposed that she has great talent in packing a lesson into story. I keep that secret from the others. I am afraid if tell it to someone else, she will get angry and doesn’t want to help me anymore. However, I ever did that. I tell it to my teacher and my teacher said it in front of my classmates. You know what happened? She couldn’t get angry with me. Hmm, she was angry but a little. She didn’t want to talk to me for 5 minutes. She is very kind. That’s why she never let me down even though I often make her angry.
My friend that I have told above has a name. Her name is Tiara Sabarani. Like her name, she is always patient in facing me who is very bad. I can’t imagine it if she leaves me and goes somewhere to study. She has a dream to study abroad and she wants to enlighthen teachers in Indonesia to be better than before. She told me that our country needs many professional and qualified teachers to make an advance step to compete with great countries in the world. How far she goes, I will always support her. I believe that she won’t forget me.
Even though I am not as smart as her, I am the one who feels responsible to protect her at school from naughty students. One day, she was in the bathroom to change her clothes because we’re going to have sport. She hung her uniform on the door and someone took it without her knowing. The female student’s bathroom was not totally covered by wall. So that someone could do that through above the door. She was panic. She called me and immediately looked for the doers. Fortunalety, I caught them who were trying to bury Tiara’s uniform in the backyard of the school. They were the famous naughty students at school and had already got punishment for many times. I can’t count it. I called my teacher silently and when my teacher found them, they got the punishment.
For me, true friendship is a friendship which doesn’t tie people in it by certain rules. It make us free to be ourselves and doesn’t force us to somebody else who they like. True friend accept who we are in real and support us to be the best version of us be good person. People in true friendship will protect each other without blind action. True friendship is Tiara and me.

Degree Of Comparison

The Degrees of Comparison in English grammar are made with the Adjective and Adverb words to show how big or small, high or low, more or less, many or few, etc., of the qualities, numbers and positions of the nouns (persons, things and places) in comparison to the others mentioned in the other part of a sentence or expression.
An Adjective is a word which qualifies (shows how big, small, great, many, few, etc.) a noun or a pronoun is in a sentence.
An adjective can be attributive (comes before a noun) or predicative (comes in the predicate part):
e.g.
He is a tall man. (‘tall’ —  adjective – attributive)
This man is tall.  (‘tall’ —  adjective – predicative)

An Adverb is a word which adds to the meaning of the main verb (how it is done, when it is done, etc.) of a sentence or expression.
It normally ends with ‘ly’, but there are some adverbs that are without ‘ly’:
e.g.

She ate her lunch quickly.
He speaks clearly.
They type fast.
Regulation of Degree of Comparison
The use of comparative and superlative depending on the number of syllables its adjective (adjective). e.g: Tall (one syllable), Famous (two syllables), Beautiful (three syllables)
1 syllable: stay nambahi -est / -er in tow.
Example: I am slimer than you. My father is oldest in my family.
2 syllables. Some use no more use for comparative -er. For anyone using -est superlative anyone use most.
Example: Tukul more famous than gogon or may also Tukul cleverer than gogon; We are the cleverest / most clever creation of God.
3 or more. Musti mandatory bin must use Most and More.
Example: She is the most beautiful girl in my life.
Exception:
some adjectives in comparative and superlative will experience a double-pen's last letter. such as: big> bigger and biggest; sad> sadder and Saddest.
If the adjective ends with the letter "y", it is replaced with "i". Such as: Happy> Happiest and Happier
Exceptions Special alias words below amendments are as follows:
Bad> Worse> Worstgambar I am the best for a full explanation of the degree of comparison and an example sentence
Good> Better> Best
Little> Less> Least
Much> More> Most
Kinds of comparison:

Active / Passive Verb Forms
Sentences can be active or passive. Therefore, tenses also have "active forms" and "passive forms." You must learn to recognize the difference to successfully speak English.

Active Form
In active sentences, the thing doing the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing receiving the action is the object. Most sentences are active.

Passive Form
In passive sentences, the thing receiving the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing doing the action is optionally included near the end of the sentence. You can use the passive form if you think that the thing receiving the action is more important or should be emphasized. You can also use the passive form if you do not know who is doing the action or if you do not want to mention who is doing the action.

Examples :
-Indra four squid meal at lunchtime. (active)
At lunch, four squid eaten by the senses. (passive)

-beautiful camels roam pastures. (active)
savannah wandering the beautiful camel. (passive)

-japri change a flat tire. (active)
Flat tire has been changed by Sue. (passive)

-We'll go to the movies tonight. (active)
A movie theater will be watched by us tonight. (passive)

-I ran hurdles in a short time. (active)
Hurdle is run by me in a short time. (passive)

Definition of an Adjective Clause

In order to understand an adjective clause, let's define the two words individually. Anadjective is a word that describes or modifies a noun. A clause is a group of words that has both a subject and a verb. If the clause expresses a complete thought, then it is a complete sentence. If it doesn't, it is what we call a dependent clause, as it depends on the main clause of the sentence to form a complete thought. An adjective clause, then, is a group of words that has both a subject and a verb that modifies a noun in a sentence. Adjective clauses are dependent clauses.
Examples
That I sold him
Which is located in Italy
Who is intelligent
Whom we met after the movie
Whose writing is always intriguing
When the leaves turn colors and fall
Where I went to elementary school
Why the movie was a flop
That was a bestseller
Who live by the ocean

Conditional Sentences
Conditional Sentences are also known as Conditional Clauses or If Clauses. They are used to express that the action in the main clause (without if) can only take place if a certain condition (in the clause with if) is fulfilled. There are three types of Conditional Sentences.
Conditional Sentence Type 1
→ It is possible and also very likely that the condition will be fulfilled.
Form: if + Simple Present, will-Future
Example: If I find her address, I’ll send her an invitation.
more on Conditional Sentences Type

Conditional Sentence Type 2
→ It is possible but very unlikely, that the condition will be fulfilled.
Form: if + Simple Past, Conditional I (= would + Infinitive)
Example: If I found her address, I would send her an invitation.
more on Conditional Sentences Type II

Conditional Sentence Type 3
→ It is impossible that the condition will be fulfilled because it refers to the past.
Form: if + Past Perfect, Conditional II (= would + have + Past Participle)
Example: If I had found her address, I would have sent her an invitation.

Simple Present tense

In English grammar, the simple present tense is a form of the verb that refers to an action or event that is ongoing or that regularly takes place in present time (for example, "He crieseasily"). Except in the case of be, the simple present is represented in English by either the base form of the verb (e.g., "I/You/We/They sing") or the base form plus the third-person singular -s inflection ("She sings").

Example For Simple Present tense

# For habits

He drinks ice at breakfast.

they bathe regularly.

She only eats chiken.

# For repeated actions or events

We catch the train every morning.

It rains every evening in the hot season.

They drive to london every summer.

# For general truths

The sun sets in the West.

Money doesn't guarantee happiness.

Flowers don't grow in the winter.

Present Continuous tense

The Present Continuous is mainly used to express the idea that something is happening at the moment of speaking. The Present Continuous also describes activities generally in progress (not at the moment). Another use of the tense is to talk about temporary actions or future plans.

Example For Present Continuous tense

- Do you hear something ?

- She is not staying in Bekasi

- Mr. Aris was teaching English in campus right now

- I am smoke

- We are reading a newspaper now

- Mr. Bambang is not going to office

Simple Past tense

In English grammar, the simple past is a verb tense (the second principal part of a verb) indicating action that occurred in the past and which does not extend into the present.
The simple past tense (also known as the past simple or preterite) of regular verbs is marked by the ending -d, -ed, or -t. Irregular verbs have a variety of endings. The simple past is not accompanied by helping verbs.

Example For Simple Past tense

What time did your sister leave for Bandung ?

I did not sleep last night

Lia and I met yesterday.

In the end, Lia did not show up.

Last Sunday, we went to Puncak together

Did My Father buy this car last year ?

Past Continuous tense

The past continuous describes actions or events in a time before now, which began in the past and is still going on at the time of speaking. In other words, it expresses an unfinished or incomplete action in the past.

Example For Past Continuous tense

What was she doing at 5 am this morning?

The door was knocked while I was studying.

I was shopping at this time yesterday.

Last night at 6 PM, I was eating dinner.

I was eating when she called

What is subject verb agreement?

Subject verb agreement refers to the fact that the subject and verb in a sentence must agree in number. In other words, they both must be singular or they both must be plural. You can’t have a singular subject with a plural verb or vice versa. The tricky part is in knowing the singular and plural forms of subjects and verbs.

Singular and plural subjects, or nouns, are usually pretty easy. In most cases the plural form of a noun has an “s” at the end.

Like this:
Car – singular
Cars – plural

Verbs don’t follow this pattern, though. Adding an “s” to a verb doesn’t make a plural. Here’s what I mean:

Walk
Walks

Which one is the singular form and which is the plural form? Here’s a tip for you. Ask yourself which would you use with the word they and which would you use with he or she.

He walks.
She walks.
They walk.

Since he and she are singular pronouns walks is a singular verb. The word they is plural sowalk is the plural form.

Example for Subject Verb Agreement,

A car and a bike are my means of transportation.

He runs four miles every day.

Some of the money is missing.

The scissors are on the table.

Some of the money is missing.

The politician, along with the newsmen, is expected shortly.

Is mumps caused by a virus.

They ride the school bus in the afternoon

Breaking and entering is against the law.
The bed and breakfast was charming.

Kind Of Pronoun

A pronoun is a word that replaces a noun in a sentence. Pronouns are used so that our language is not cumbersome with the same nouns being repeated over and over in a paragraph. Some examples of pronouns include I, me, mine, myself, she, her, hers, herself,we, us, ours and ourselves. You may have noticed that they tend to come in sets of four, all referring to the same person, group or thing.
He, him, his and himself, for example, all refer to a male person or something belonging to him
They, them, theirs and themselves all refer to a group or something belonging to a group, and so on.

The truth is that there are many different types of pronouns, each serving a different purpose in a sentence.

Personal Pronouns

Personal pronouns can be the subject of a clause or sentence. They are: I, he, she, it, they, we, and you. Example: “They went to the campus.”
Personal pronouns can also be objective, where they are the object of a verb, preposition, or infinitive phrase. They are: me, her, him, it, you, them, and us. Example: “David gave the gift to her.”
Possession can be shown by personal pronouns, like: mine, his, hers, ours, yours, its, and theirs. Example: “Is this mine or yours?”

Subject Pronouns

Subject pronouns are often (but not always) found at the beginning of a sentence. More precisely, the subject of a sentence is the person or thing that lives out the verb.

- To him, I must now pay my children's college funds. – If you'll notice, the verb in this sentence – the action – is "pay." Although I is not at the beginning of the sentence, it is the person living out the action and is, therefore, the subject.

- I owe that person $3,000. – I am living out that debt. I is the subject pronoun

- You speak very quickly

Object Pronouns

By contrast, objects and object pronouns indicate the recipient of an action or motion. They come after verbs and prepositions (to, with, for, at, on, beside, under, around, etc.).

- Listen to me carefully

- We watch them on TV

- She talks to us

Subject vs. Object Pronouns

There is often confusion over which pronouns you should use when you are one half of a dual subject or object. For example, should you say:

- Me and him had a fight." or "He and I had a fight?

- The police arrested me and him." or "The police arrested he and I?

Some people will tell you that you should always put the other person first and refer to yourself as "I" because it's more proper, but those people are wrong. You can put the other person first out of politeness, but you should always use the correct pronouns (subject or object) for the sentence.
A good test to decide which one you need is to try the sentence with one pronoun at a time. Would you say, "Me had a fight?" Of course not. You'd say, "I had a fight." What about, "Him had a fight?" No, you'd say, "He had a fight." So when you put the two subjects together, you get, "He and I had a fight." The same rule applies to the other example.
You wouldn't say, "The police arrested he," or, "The police arrested I."
You would use "him" and "me."

So the correct sentence is, "The police arrested him and me."

Possessive Adjectives vs. Possessive Pronouns

Pronominal possessive adjectives include the following: my, your, our, their, his, her and its. They are sort of pronouns in that they refer to an understood noun, showing possession by that noun of something. They are technically adjectives, though, because they modify a noun that follows them.

- I gambled it all away on your race horse.

- His jockey was too fat.

- My money is all gone.

In all of these examples, there is a noun (money, race horse, jockey) that has not been replaced with a pronoun. Instead, an adjective is there to show whose money, horse and jockey we’re talking about.
Possessive pronouns, on the other hand – mine, yours, ours, theirs, his, hers, its – are truly pronouns because they refer to a previously named or understood noun. They stand alone, not followed by any other noun. For comparison's sake, look at this sentence:

- You have your vices, and I have mine.

There are two types of pronouns here: subject (you/I) and possessive (mine). There's also a possessive adjective (your). We'll deal with the subject pronouns momentarily, but for now, just look at the others.
Your is followed by the noun, vices, so although we know that your refers to you, it is not the noun or the noun substitute (pronoun). Vices is the noun. In the second half of the sentence, however, the noun and the possessive adjective have both been replaced with one word – the pronoun, mine. Because it stands in the place of the noun, mine is a true pronoun whereas your is an adjective that must be followed by a noun.
Indefinite Pronouns

These pronouns do not point to any particular nouns, but refer to things or people in general. Some of them are: few, everyone, all, some, anything, and nobody. Example: “Isdhia walked in and handed the piece of paper to someone.

Relative Pronouns

A relative pronoun is a pronoun that introduces a relative clause. It is called a "relative" pronoun because it "relates" to the word that its relative clause modifies. Here is an example:
The person who phoned me last night is my teacher.

Intensive Pronouns

These pronouns are used to emphasize a noun or pronoun. These are: myself, himself, herself, themselves, itself, yourself, yourselves, and ourselves. Example: “You can make yourselves at home”

Demonstrative Pronouns

There are five demonstrative pronouns: these, those, this, that, and such. They focus attention on the nouns that are replacing. Examples: “Such was his understanding.” “ These are the most comfortable.”

Interrogative Pronouns

These pronouns are used to begin a question: who, whom, which, what, whoever, whomever, whichever, and whatever. Example: “Who will design the new logo?”
Reflexive Pronouns

There is one more type of pronoun, and that is the reflexive pronoun. These are the ones that end in “self” or "selves." They are object pronouns that we use when the subject and the object are the same noun.

- He accidentally cut himself while he was chopping the vegetables.

- She bought a present for herself.

We also use them to emphasize the subject.

- The author signed the book for me herself!
